Nemo Bass Bait
William J. Jamison Co
Chicago, IL
1910
"Smiling Bill" Jamison began manufacturing in the early 1900s.  Like many of the lure makers in those days, he started his manufacturing business in his own home.

The Nemo lure featured a rotating head with metal blades.  It also had an extra rig to attach a round weight on the bottom of the lure.  This allowed the lure to be a surface lure (no weight) or just add a weight to make it an underwater lure.

In 1918, Jamison was granted a patent for a lure called the Twin Spinner.  This is credited with being the first spinner bait.
