Slim Sweeney Twinminnow
Slim Sweeney
Fresno, CA
1930s

I have always liked old, small company lures that are well-made and unique.  The Slim Sweeney Twinminnow is no exception.

This banana-shaped lure featured a wood body, glass eyes, a high quality paint scheme and a unique metal plate on its head.  This plate had a crooked line tie that may have been intended to  be used as a multiple line tie so that you could vary how you wanted the lure to act in the water, depending on where you attached your line.

Slim’s slogan for his lure was simple; “More Action, More Fish”.  The lure is stamped “Twinminnow” on the face of the metal plate.

There are not too many pre-1940 lures made in California that are available to collectors.  How this small California company lure ended up in a tackle box in Minnesota is anyone’s guess.
