The month of July features Independence Day in the USA, and many communities celebrate by lighting up the sky with fireworks.  So, for the Lure Of The Month, I will feature a lure that lights up the water.

Based on the premise that light always attracts fish, this lure is basically a lighted tube pulled through the water on retrieve.  Some ads states that it will spin or flash, but I don’t see anything on the lure that will make it spin (except just pulling it through the water may cause this) and the light appears to stay on solid.

I suspect this lure did not sell well as the lure company was very short-lived.  In just a few short years, the lure was being sold out of New York and ads now show it as just a light to add to your existing lure to “double your catch”.  I have also found boxes with just lighting elements in them.  There may have been sold as an attachment to other lures or as spare parts…although they don’t look like a part for the original lure.

As you can see, not much data is available on this lure that was only available for a few years.

Below are three ads starting with a 1954 ad and ending with the no hook version to “light your lure”.
